Safe to remove Column in Content Type?

I have a "Master" Content Type and I am creating several "children" content Types that will inherit from that Master Type. There are over 100 columns in the Master. When I create the "child" type it attaches all those columns to it, but I only want a subset of the columns (like about 20 per child). Is it "safe" to use SharePoint Manager (SP 2010 Enterprise Server) to manage this? It is much quicker to delete the columns using this tool, versus using the "web site" (or even SPDesigner). Eventually, once I get it like I want it... I am going to export it out and bring it in a VS project so I can make it a "deployable" solution. (I may even change it from a "Schema Xml" based content type to being created with "code".) But, for now I just want to get the Contenty Type(s) built and a list created to test some functionality and do a "prototype" of the App for the user to sign off on...

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Hmm...nevermind! This is VERY fast and easy in SP Designer.
